Our specialized in-depth workshops for teens and adults are great for delving deeper into difficult subjects. Workshops are 10 hours each on weekends: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
4 – 6:30 PM Thursday and Friday, & 12:00 NOON to 5 PM on Saturday.
All workshops are taught by our founder, Dennas Davis.
Figure Drawing – JUNE 15, 16, & 17
- Most of our time will be spent working on sketches and drawings from live models (wearing leotards) as well as drawing demonstrations and anatomy insights by the instructor. Various techniques are used such as contour line and shading to create realistic and expressive figurative work. Ink, charcoal, pencil and watercolor is used.
Easy Artists Perspective – JUNE 29, 30, & JULY 1
- Understanding how to make structures appear to have an accurate illusion of depth can be very frustrating. Typical classes are too complex to be practical and are designed for architects. We will demystify and explain all this left-brained stuff in a way that can be used by the right-brained artist! We’ll create drawings in pencil and ink.
Painting Trees – JULY 13, 14, & 15
- Understanding how to make trees look like… well, trees, isn’t easy. There are several insights about trees that allow artists to structure them in a realistic way – think vegetative anatomy. Then there will be several techniques shown and practiced in watercolor and acrylics that help artists create the airy and textural wonder of trees in their landscape paintings. Color and shading is also covered.
Color Workshop in acrylics – JULY 20, 21, & 22
- Expand your knowledge of color. Most of what we learn in standard art classes is far to simplified. This leads to frustration when artists do what they’ve been told should work… but it doesn’t. While complex, the world of color and pigments is fully understandable. Dennas explains how light from various directions is colored, and how to mix vibrant shadows like the impressionists. (Color workshop contains information from our advanced Expressions curriculum).
Covering specialized subjects, our workshops go further in-depth for these areas of interest than we are able to in our regular classes. The students who have attended have raved about how much they’ve enjoyed themselves and how much they’ve learned! If you have an interest in taking your work to the next level, then a workshop is for you.
