Dennas is an artist living in Franklin, TN. He enjoys painting, illustrating, teaching art, and writing. Much of the writing and painting will show up here. Most of the teaching happens at his art school, Firstlight Arts Academy, but more and more of it will be showing up here as well, in the near future. Firstlight Arts Academy.
In it’s 4th year, the school has 120 students enrolled in 16 classes. Each class is a 9-month program of weekly lessons. Students cover many ages, beginning at age 6 and continuing through high-school, as well as a few adult classes. The school teaches art in an unconventional manner, focusing on nurturing, discovery, and encouragement.
365 Canvases 4 the Future.
Beginning on November 18th, 2009, Dennas began painting a canvas every day. The size of the canvases range from moderate to very large. 20% of the purchase price from each canvas sold is donated to CiViL groups in Nashville – http://www.civilgroups.org/ – which trains young people in inner city high-schools how to live a life of Character and to become Leaders with consistent Values. Those traits are represented by the C, V and L in the word CiViL. They do this by getting into small discussion groups and engaging the kids using counseling techniques and mentoring relationships.
