Here’s a painting of one of my favorite things. We got this chair in Florida years ago. Actually we have two of them. They are made out of deadhead Cypress wood salvaged from the swamp, and you can’t really find much of this wood any more. The live trees are protected. (a very good thing). [...] Here’s my latest. The colors are quite vivid, all done as glazes, which catch the light. 18 x 24 inches. Acrylic and pencil on deep edge canvas. Here is a good example of me getting bored and doing something really different. I had a lot of fun with this, using watercolor, acrylics, colored pencils and oil pastel together on a watercolor panel (not paper, but a special board with a clay coating to simulate paper). If you try really, really hard to [...] This is a thick painting, unlike a lot of what I’ve been doing. I kept getting more and more paint on the canvas. Then I went back the next day and added a ton more. Instead of working within a certain style, I tend to do whatever the painting seems to need. 16 x 20 inches. [...] I was tempted to name this a goofy pun, “Stapleations”. But once I began writing, it seemed better to say that I almost did, but didn’t. So I did. Anyway, I really love the old machine with its deco styling. 16 x 20 inches. Acrylic and pencil on board. Here’s a painting from yesterday. I really like the shadows and colors in a pomegranate that is under a strong light. I tried to capture the reflected light on the bottom half. We are finally finished with all of the gingerbread houses in the art classes, so paintings are getting back on track. I made about [...] I began this painting several months ago, and finally got around to finishing it today. This is in a former style, so that’s why it doesn’t seem to fit as well. I might have to do more of these, because it’s a lot of fun to paint this way. 24 x 36 inches. Acrylic on deep [...] This was fun. I hope someone likes it enough to give it a good home. I’m noticing that small paintings are turning out brighter. I don’t know… The red is quite a bit brighter than this shows. I need a better camera than the iphone I’m currently using. 11 x 14 inches. Acrylic and pencil on standard [...] I didn’t expect to do such a simple color scheme with this. But when the flower was done, I didn’t want to change it much, so I made the background white, like the canvas. White, with all kinds of color in it. I love painting whites. I even took out all the greenery to make [...] I like pears. They’re especially good with some blue cheese. Ok, now I’m hungry. The speckling on these was really nice, and I tried to create the same effect with splatters both on the pears and in the background.
